Cocktails, Canapés and Comedy for CJD Research

By Events, Fundraising, News

In Memory of Jenny Duckworth

After raising $18k last year for CJD research, this year the Duckworth family are aiming to raise $50k to fund local researchers in Australia.

CJD is a rare, degenerative and fatal brain disease, that affects 2 in a million people every year.

Due to the rarity and aggressive nature of this disease, funding for research is sadly limited to donations.

Since losing mum Jenny Duckworth to CJD in 2016, her children have inspired a vision that no other family will have to go through what they did.

Please join them on Saturday 17th November as they host a night of cocktails, canapés and comedy, to raise much needed funds for CJD research.

The Papalia family in WA has organised a raffle to raise funds for CJD research in Australia.

This family lost a husband, father and grandfather to this devastating disease in late 2015 and have been raising funds and promoting awareness since that time.

Tickets are now on sale and $5.00 could win you one of three fantastic prizes.

Please call Maria on 0412905588 if you would like to purchase some tickets, or even better sell a book, to assist this fantastic cause.

All proceeds raised will go to the CJD Support Group Network and every cent will be directed to support research of CJD and other prion diseases in Australia.

Thank you to Poppy’s Crusade for assisting the family with this fundraiser.

Participate in the full marathon, half marathon, 10km or 5.7km run, sporting team shirts to raise awareness for the rapidly debilitating Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease that so sadly cut Sue’s life short on March 25th 2015.

Sue lost her life to this horrible disease, yet so little is known about CJD. It is a one in a million terminal Prion Disease that rapidly attacks the brain and has no treatment and no cure. It stole Sue from us so traumatically just 2 short weeks after diagnosis.

The family and friends of Sue plan to take part in the 2016 Gold Coast Marathon to raise much needed funds to help find a cure and to help prevent other people’s lived being cut short from Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

Get a group of friends together to start training and fundraising!
