Educating the GP community!!!!!!CJDSGN committee members Dr Debra Scott and Gail Glasscock manned a booth last Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the General Practice Conference and Exhibition (GPCE) at the Melbourne convention centre. This event was attended by approximately 800 GPs and our girls passed out the brochures and our handbook 'Caring for a CJD patients' and talked to as many as possible educating them about the disease, the incidence of CJD in Australia and promoting awareness of the CJDSGN!!!!! Dr Scott is the palliative care and patient care advisor for the CJDSGN and her experience with CJD started when, as a GP, she cared for a CJD patient who remained at home. She has gone on to specialise as a palliative care doctor and is very passionate about educating and improving knowledge of CJD amongst her colleagues. Gail lost her husband to CJD so was able to bring her personal story to those they spoke to over this weekend.
