In memory of Jenny Duckworth
After raising over $40,000 for CJD research since 2017, the Duckworth family is hoping to reach $50,000 in donations to fund local researchers in Australia.
In 2020, the Duckworth family decided to raise funds by making and selling reusable face masks.
They have raised over $10,000 already!

CJD is a rare, degenerative and fatal brain disease, that affects 2 in a million people every year.
Due to the rarity and aggressive nature of this disease, funding for research is sadly limited to donations.
Since losing mum Jenny Duckworth to CJD in 2016, her children have inspired a vision that no other family will have to go through what they did.

December 2017 – $18,222.23 as part of the following CJDSGN memorial grant: ‘CJDSGN Memorial Grant 2018′ – City2Sea 2016 and 2017 in memory of Stephen (Jake) O’Hara (Team Jake) Jennifer Duckworth (Team Jenny) and others lost to CJD’. Awarded to Dr Victoria Lewis, Collins Laboratory, University of Melbourne – $50,000.00
2019 – $25,000.00 allocated for the following research project- ‘CJDSGN 2019 Memorial Award in Memory of Jennifer Duckworth’. Project Title: ‘Treatment of medically relevant prion disease’. Awarded to Associate Professor Victoria Lawson, Lawson Research Group, University of Melbourne.
2021 – $7,370.00 allocated to ‘CJDSGN Memorial Award 2021 in memory of Catherine Heagerty, Jenny Duckworth, Francesca Indelicato and Theo Souris’ – $20,000 awarded to Lawson Research Lab, University of Melbourne. PROJECT TITLE: ‘The role of co-pathologies in the clinical presentation of prion disease. Year 3’
