In loving memory of Michael John Dempsey
Michael John Dempsey was a soldier, a highly respected auctioneer, a golfer and an avid card player. Most importantly, he was an amazing husband to wife Maureen and father to Caroline, Gavin and Belinda, father-in-law to Justin, Geoff, and Toni and beloved pop to his grandchildren.
Michael died from CJD on the 6th December, 2018 and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

2019- ‘CJDSGN Memorial Award 2019 in Memory of Michael John Dempsey’ – $25,600.00. Awarded to Associate Professor Victoria Lawson, Lawson Research Group, University of Melbourne. Funding for consumables for 2019/2020 for Project: ‘The role of co-pathologies in the clinical presentation of prion disease’ covering Year 1 (Aim 1 $12,000 and Aim 2 $13,600).
2020- $2,762.50 allocated towards CJDSGN Memorial Award 2020 – CJD Fun Run 2019 in memory of Sandra Kernahan, Stephen (Jake) O’Hara, Lynne Norman and Norelle Edwards – and in memory of Anne O’Shea and others. $50,000 awarded to Dr Christiane Stehmann, ANCJDR, Melbourne. Project Title: ‘A pilot study to advance brain structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to improve the accuracy of early prion disease diagnosis.
