In loving memory of our Appa, Chelliah Sivanathan

29.09.1952 – 03.02.2023

Chelliah Sivanathan was the loving husband of Kamala and Appa to his 3 children, Meera, Mithra and Thayan.

Sivanathan was born in Chavakachcheri, Sri Lanka, moved to Germany in 1986 and then to Sydney in 1993. He pursued his lifelong dream of following in his father’s footsteps and worked as a train guard for City Rail. He loved his job and always gave it 110%. In his spare time, he was passionate about music (singing Tamil Songs), cricket, his garden and fixing things around the house. His family meant the world to him and he would always provide advice and support to his immediate and extended family members. Sivanathan was known by his friends and family as a gentle, kind, loving, caring, funny and hardworking person.

Sivanathan was diagnosed with CJD on 3rd December 22 and sadly passed on 3rd February 23. As with most cases of this disease, Sivanathan’s health took a rapid decline since diagnosis. Sivanathan displayed great strength during his fight, and was able to spend his final months with his beautiful family.
